WebJan 18, 2024 · Important to get the two Perks for shotgun. 1) Shotgun Surgeon. 2) Knockback. using Flechette ammo, I can take out 2 (TWO) Deathclaws at point blank range! So, yes, the Riot Gun is far and away the best up close weapon in the game! edit: NOT so great at mid-range, obviously useless at long range. Use at close range, use VATS. WebTheir main advantage is being able to knockdown enemies, which can get very unbalanced (permanently stunning deathclaws is dumb). The main limitation with shotguns is due to the game engine though. Couple of issues : -They do very low critical damage because each pellet has a seperate chance to crit.
