Frequently Asked Questions

If you have a question that isn’t listed, please don’t hesitate to give us a call!

If I have 100% insurance coverage, should I have to pay anything?

Almost no one has 100% coverage for everything, though many people have 100% coverage for routine cleanings, exams, and x-rays. If your insurance implies 100% coverage for everything, it is actually 100% of the insurance company’s “fee schedule”, which is often 25-35% of the average dental fee.

What are the benefits of a dental X-ray examination?

Finding and treating dental problems at an early stage can save time, money and unnecessary discomfort. It can detect damage to oral structures not visible during a regular exam. If you have a hidden tumor, radiographs may even help save your life.

I have some old silver fillings which are beginning to look bad. What can be done to improve them?

Silver amalgam fillings, which are composed of 50% mercury and 50% silver alloy, eventually need to be replaced. It may surprise you to know that the average life span of a silver filling is five to eight years. Your dentist can tell you when they appear to NEED to be replaced due to leakage, breakdown or recurrent decay. If your concern is strictly cosmetic, there are many new methods available to replace the fillings with beautiful, functional and long-lasting restorations. Some options we offer are white fillings, porcelain inlays, porcelain crowns and/or veneers may be used to give you the smile you have always wanted!

Do you offer Nitrous Oxide in your office?

No.

What types of Dental Insurance do you accept?

We will accept any Dental Insurance that is a PPO, as long as they DO NOT give you a list of providers that you must go to. For PPO insurances we are not contracted with, they will usually pay a percentage of our UCR (Usual Customary and Reasonable) fees instead of their fee schedule. For specific coverage information, please feel free to call the office.
